I almost skipped this week, if I’m being honest. Haha. Sitting down to write felt harder than it normally does. But I have lots to share, and I’m proud of myself for showing up.
Let’s do a simple catch-up, shall we?
Miscellany:
1. Happy May! It’s my birthday month. Woo-hoo. Yes, I’m one of those people who like to celebrate my birthday the entire month.
2. A few bright spots this week included….
- Getting outside for a walk (fresh air and sunshine help more than I expect).
- A mani/pedi moment—nothing fancy, just a little time to sit, slow down, and feel a bit more put together… a little reset I didn’t realize I needed.
- A good laugh with Steve—because laughter really is good medicine.
- The pups being their usual sweet, goofy selves.
Nothing big, but sometimes the small things are the steady ones. Right?
3. What I’m Loving. Keeping this one easy this week…
- Something cozy to watch: Love Again (movie on Hulu). It’s a charming mix of romance and meaningful moments, brought to life by characters who make believing in second chances feel easy.
- Iced Breves from 7 Brew (little comfort, big impact).
- Quiet evenings at home.
Apparently, I’m leaning fully into comfort mode right now—and I’m not mad about it.
4. Local Happenings. The centennial celebration for Route 66 kicked off in Springfield this past Thursday, and there was so much happening around town. I mostly followed along via social media (haha), but it looked like such a fun celebration.
Did you know Springfield is considered the birthplace of Route 66? Such a fun little piece of history right in our backyard. Even The Today Show stopped by to join in on the festivities — here’s when they kicked things off downtown.
And speaking of things making the rounds… did you see all the chatter about the hail we got here in the Ozarks this week? It even made national news. I watched most of it unfold online, and those videos were wild—apparently, one of the worst hailstorms our area has seen in years.
Here in Rogersville, we got hail, but nothing like what some other areas got. Wow… those videos were something else. Softball-sized hail?! No, thank you.
Sadly, an emu named Adam died at the Springfield Zoo, too.
5. Something New. I started attending a women’s Bible study at church — Walking with God by Beth Moore. There’s a video lesson each week, along with daily studies to work through at home.
I rarely make plans on weeknights, so it felt a little strange heading out on a Thursday night. But sometimes stepping out of our usual routines is exactly what we need. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next several weeks hold.
6. Tell me — what’s something small you’re loving right now? A show, a snack, a routine? I always love hearing the little things.
