Hello friends and family…  it’s been awhile since I’ve posted any updates on our IVF journey.  I completed the cycle of birth control pills on Saturday — glad to have that behind me.  Hoping and praying I won’t have to do that again (smile).  This morning Steve and I had an earlier start to our day than usual. We had the injection teach at the hospital at 7 a.m.  Here we learned how to properly use all of the needles, syringes, etc.  for the Follistim, Lupron and Ganirelix.  I think the coolest device is the Follistim pen — still a needle, but so easy to use.  The Lupron is going to be my greatest challenge — getting the meds in the proper dosage with a syringe and NO air bubbles.  Ugh.  I’m glad that it’s only taken within a day or two of the procedure.  The Ganirelix is pre-packaged and only taken if necessary (per the doctor’s instructions), so that’s a simple squeeze of the stomach and poke.

The nurse was a patient saint in walking us through all of this.  The session ended with me having to measure out some saline and sticking myself.  I thought “no biggie,” until I went to put the needle in my stomach.  I cringed.  After one deep breath — mission accomplished.

When we schedule the reimplantation we’ll need to head back to learn how to do the Projesterone.  I guess it’s a bigger needle, etc.  That one Steve will actually have to administer into my booty.  Good times.

As of right now, there aren’t any changes.  On Thursday morning  I have my Stim Start Monitoring ultrasound and bloodwork.  Over the weekend, I’ll start the Clomid and Follistim.  On Tuesday, May 18th, my follicle development monitoring begins.  I will post updates as necessary — but as we all know:  No news is good news.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF YOUR THOUGHTS and PRAYERS!!  Be blessed.

keep living and laughing, friends.
