I’m excited to share our neutral window treatments featuring Natural Shades by LEVOLOR. As we all know, a new home comes with a lot of new things and lots of decision-making. Within the last couple of years, I’ve found that the farmhouse style tugs at my heartstrings. There’s a beauty to its simplicity.
Farmhouse Style Neutral Window Treatments
I love whites, grays, and neutral colors. There’s something about mixing the old and the new, too. I felt like I had to deal with or settle on a lot of things in St. Louis, so I wanted to be intentional about a lot of things in our new home. When we were moving in, I told my husband that this time, I wasn’t settling on anything—hahaha—like the kitchen (ahem).
I digress…. back to window treatments! Would you believe that in our last home, we had 12 windows on the first floor alone? With the nine upstairs, we had a total of 21 windows. GULP. Some window treatments just weren’t feasible. We then went with LEVOLOR Classic 2-inch Faux Wood Blind in White. We chose these for the look and price point. They complimented the white linen curtains, so I couldn’t complain, but I always wanted to get some of the natural-looking shades.
After officially moving in, we hung the white linen curtains (similar) I already had, using these new (and might I add fabulous) Faux Wood Curtain Rods. I love using clips on my curtains; these rubbed bronze curtain clips are my fave. If I didn’t watch so much of the ID Channel, I probably wouldn’t have worried about having shades (yes, I’m an ID addict – haha). However, the curtains are sheer, and I like my privacy — so finding (and installing) shades was a priority.
The research for shades actually began while the house was being built… I looked in several local stores, but nothing really stood out to me, so I started to look online. I visited LEVOLOR.com and decided to order a few swatches (samples). The natural shades were what caught my eye, they offer textural fabrics blended with natural elements such as jute, bamboo, reeds, and grasses to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. I really liked the lighter jute colors, too, so I decided on the cordless Natural Shades in Banana Leaf with the light filtering liner.
Friends, I’m in love!!! These shades can work beautifully in any living space, but they look amazing in our home.

regardless of era or price, your home
will be a true reflection of you.”

We were also thrilled with the 2-on-1 headrail option. You can have both shades put on one headrail, which provides easier installation and operation on your widest windows!
The light-filtering liner softly filters light and provides privacy, making it ideal for any room where filtered light and soft illumination are desired, such as a living room or dining room (the two rooms mine are hanging in).
I debated whether to get a valance, but I thought it would add a little more interest to the overall look of my window treatments. I decided to go with the classic valance. Having options is always a benefit, that’s for sure! We couldn’t be happier.
I love our neutral window treatments — and they truly add some extra farmhouse style to the space. Our new home is coming along, and I look forward to sharing more of it with you soon.
Hugs + Blessings,

Hi Katie. The ceiling fan is from Ballard Designs 😉 I am so in love with it!

Love these window treatments! What color paint do you have on your walls?
Maria says
Beautiful…Absolutely stunning! Did yours come with a valance or without?
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Maria. Thanks so much for your kind words. We got ours with the valance 🙂 Have a lovely weekend.

I like how one treatment you’ve chosen filters light just right and gives privacy as well. With that in mind, I will look for a treatment like that since we need privacy in our living room. It’s because it is the most exposed to the road since we live in a house on the corner of the block.
Jennifer says
Hi there. I adore these shades ! Wanted to know where you purchased them ? I’m doing my living room in them and I do need privacy. I see lowes sells this brand. Any info would be much appreciated
Dana says
Can you tell me where you got the shades and the curtains?
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Dana. Thanks for stopping by. All of the products are linked within the post. The shades are from Levolor and the curtains are from Target. Cheers!!

Your shades are beautiful and your room inspiring. Would you mind sharing the paint color? I apologize if I missed it in the blog.
Carolyn says
Are your shades the Roman shades in banana leaf? Or are they roller shades? The bottom looks as if they roll?
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Carolyn, No, these aren’t Roman Shades — they are the natural shades with a cordless life option. They layer a bit when opened, but they’re not considered the Roman Shade. In the first paragraph I linked to the actual shade we have. Yes, it is the banana leaf 🙂 Hope that helps. Cheers!
Stephanie says
Are the Levolor shades a standard Roman shade or waterfall?
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Stephanie. It’s neither. I linked to the actual shade in the opening paragraph, mine have a valance and a cordless lift option. I hope that helps. Cheers.

The shades look great….but I’m wondering about the color. In the photos, your shades look a very neutral beige, which is beautiful. Yet, when I look on the Levolor site, banana leaf looks more like a rich reddish brown. Please let me know if you think they’re more neutral or more brown. Many thanks.
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Marie. With the light coming through they look much lighter. Does that help?
Erin says
Hi There ! I was searching the internet trying to see what banana leaf natural shades by Levolor looked like and stumbled upon your blog. Now that it’s been a couple years since you purchased the shades, how are they holding up? I don’t know much about the company (just see that Home Depot carries them) so I was curious about the durability?
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Erin. Thanks so much for stopping by. They’re holding up fabulously. I have NO complaints about this product. However, they don’t get a lot of wear and tear either. I pull my curtains closed every night and occasionally pull the shades all the way down. From the exterior, there is no yellowing of the light-blocking fabric either. I highly recommend them. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
Kim says
Hi! Your house looks beautiful! Could you answer a few questions please? What paint color did you use in your kitchen and living room? Are the curtains sheer and made of 100 percent linen? Thanks!
Joanna says
We are considering getting these exact shades for our home. I’m just wondering how well the cordless feature works on these. I can imagine them being a lot heavier than cellular shades, so I thought one of the corded options might be better.
Thanks!

Hi Kelly,
Love your article and your clean classic farmhouse style. I’ve been looking for blinds for my new place and decided to go with shades because I found the samples I ordered too messy and cheap looking. Now I regret ordering them after reading this because your window treatments are off the charts! Thank you for your suggestions and style, keep on writing like this, I will follow you are awesome my friend,
