I originally shared this Bunny and Carrot Egg Decorating tutorial over at It’s Overflowing. I was soooo excited to get to be a part of the fun. Thanks again, Aimee, for the invite and hosting.
Have you ever went to a party or event and felt a little under-dressed? That was me at the Easter Egg Hunt a blogging friend hosted… I approached it with a family friendly, fun idea — while some of the other ladies showed up with incredibly fancy, decorative ideas. Oh well.
After a little blushing, I still walked away excited to be in on the fun — and I made some new friends. However, I was excited to be able to bring the fun back to you all today. This is 100% pure family fun {smile}.
What’s a bunny without a carrot? I couldn’t bare to make the bunny eggs without the carrot eggs. How cruel would that be? {giggle} Anywho, with a few crafty supplies and a little creativity — these cuties are super easy and you’ll have a “hopping” good time!
So, let’s start with a few supplies: Hard Boiled Eggs (of course), Orange coloring, Pink Pom-Poms, Wiggle Eyes (optional), Glue Gun, Black Magic Maker, Scissors and White Foam.
Bunny Eggs
For the bunny eggs, you’ll simply start by hot gluing on your wiggly eyes and pink pom-pom. Then you’ll free-hand a few whiskers. Be careful with moisture from the egg — it can make those whiskers a little problematic if the egg isn’t completely dry.
I didn’t take pictures of the bunny ear process, but you’ll trace out the ears on your white foam — whatever shape and size you desire. Cut and hot glue them on as well. I added a few eyelashes and a pink bow to the little girl. Accessorizing may be a fun add-on for your family festivities.
CARROT EGGS
The carrot eggs are simply soaked in the orange coloring for 15-20 minutes, so you can get a bright orange. I also added the vinegar to my water — as suggested on the packaging.
Wrap some green raffia together, tie or knot and hot glue that to the top of your orange egg — and, well, you have yourself a DARLING little carrot egg. Easy peasy!
Happy egg decorating!! Happy Easter!!
