Howdy friends!   Remember when I shared my Holiday Cheesecake Presents recently with some fun Office Potluck Themes? Well, I’m back today to share some more tips on How to Plan a Holiday Office Potluck.  Be the office rock star with these five tips!

It's party season! Here are 5 Tips for planning a holiday office potluck -- with a holidy dessert idea too! www.livelaughrowe.comI never had to plan one myself, I was lucky to have some pretty awesome staff to do it for me — but I know they pulled them off without a glitch because they planned!  Let’s take a look at these tips.

1)  Pick a Coordinator.   First and foremost — whose coordinating?  Will it be one person, a small group from the office, or an office coordinator/manager?  Once that’s been determined, let the fun begin.

2)  Pick a Date.  Check the calendar — and with management to be sure there are no scheduling conflicts!

3)  Time and Place.  Coordinate a time and location to host the Office Potluck.  Be sure there will be ample space for the food, staff and a little mingling.  Upon picking the time and place, consider if a theme would be appropriate for your group.

4)  Sign-Up Sheet.  Consider food categories, number of dishes and theme (if applicable).  Be sure to keep the size of your staff in mind.  Don’t forget to include plates, cups, napkins and plastic cutlery. Mention that everyone needs to bring their own serving spoon/utensil for their dish and to label them as well.

Consider whether you’ll have pen and paper sign-up sheets and where they will be placed.  Or maybe you’ll have an electronic sign-up sheet, using something like SignUpGenius.  I never knew these type of service were available, but I love it!!

5)  Invitation and Sign-Ups.  Send out an e-mail a couple of weeks in advance and provide sign-up information.

  • Post signs around the office promoting the event and where employees can sign up.  Out of sight, out of mind — so be sure that employees are being reminded of the upcoming fun and who the point of contact is if they have questions.

Miscellaneous things to keep in mind:

  • Have a few volunteers to assist with setting up, tearing down and clean up.
  • Don’t forget large trash cans! Lots of trash will accumulate quickly, so be prepared {wink}.
  • Have a white elephant exchange to bring a little fun to the mix.
  • Does the manager want to address the group?  Be sure to inquire with him/her.

That’s it!  Not too bad, right?  If you’re attending an office potluck and signing up to bring dessert, don’t forget my Holiday Cheesecake Presents recipe — easy, delicious and festive!
