It’s amazing what you can do with so little… especially when it comes to cork! Remember my DIY Cork Woodburning Trivets? Well, after being inspired by Martha, I thought I would share another fun cork trivet project.
Show up to dinner invite with the perfect hostess gift, homemade Cork Leaf Trivets.
Make them in just three easy steps with minimal supplies!
Sometimes we show up to a party or event with a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates or a scented candle! How about gifting a couple of cork leaf trivets this fall? They’re sure to impress!
Supplies needed for Cork Leaf Trivets:
Cork
X-ACTO knife
Self Healing Mat (optional)
Leaf Templates (from Martha Stewart)
Scissors
Pen for tracing
Step One:
Print your leaf templates (or trace them onto paper) and cut them out.
Step Two:
Trace leaf templates onto cork (12×12 square is what I used) with a pen (a ballpoint pen is much easier than a pencil).
Step Three:
Start cutting using your X-ACTO knife on top of a hard safe surface or a self healing mat.
Continue to cut and trim until you’re entire piece is done! The key is precision and patience. I’m a perfectionist, so it took me a little longer than it probably should have {hee-hee}. I love how simple and perfect they turned out.
You have a perfectly festive piece to use while entertaining or surprise the hostess with something seasonal and functional!

Love your craft idea. I just completed a round cork trivet burning project. My question is: Should I seal or can I seal my project using polyurethane or isn’t it necessary. I just want to preserve the burnt images while placing hot dishes on the trivet – reason for my question. Thanks
