As I’ve said before on several occasions, I kind of have a crush on Valentine’s Day… and all of the valentines projects that come with it.  A lot of sweet treats come along with this special day. Chocolate.  Desserts. Candy.  Today I thought I’d share a fun and super easy Valentine’s Day Treat that might also be a fun presentation for an after school snack {giggle}.  Oh to be young again and return home to some milk and cookies.

Love the idea of putting holes in the cookies to place on straws in the milk! Such a cute Valentine's Day Treat. livelaughrowe.comFun Valentine’s Day Treat

So, this is more or less a semi-homemade  treat too!  Don’t judge {smile}.  I bought ready to bake sugar cookie dough and with a couple of easy steps, these delicious bites were ready for serving. And boy is my mouthwatering…

Make the cookies by following the directions on the package. While warm, use your heart shaped cookie cutter to get your cookie shaped after baking.  You’ll then want to use a straw to create your hole in the cookie.  I didn’t take a picture of this, but I’m sure you get the idea.

After you’ve done these steps, you’ll want to make a pourable icing.  Here’s one to whip up:

4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup  milk

In a bowl combine milk and powdered sugar until there are no lumps.  If you need to thin it some more or if it gets thick between uses, simply add a little more milk.  Add food coloring.  I used both red and pink by splitting the pourable icing.

Place cookies on a cooling rack and pour frosting over each cookie.  You can place bowl under the cooling rack to catch excess frosting or place a sheet of wax paper.  Let the frosting set and your done!

Grab your recycled Starbucks Frappuccino Bottles and some cute straws and you’re ready to serve a Valentine’s Day treat that’s sure to please.

I especially love how easy the icing is to make. I struggle all the time trying to get a good consistency for cookie coverage like this. Looks really sweet in the end!
