TGIF! I’m blogging today from Atlanta, GA — tonight kicked off my very first Haven Conference {a blog conference}. I’m already exhausted, but having a BLAST! However, I couldn’t possibly think about not sharing something fun with all of you. How about a weekend craft that’s easy and fabulous? I’d love to share a fun watercolor project.
Years ago I purchased a set of watercolor pencils to use when stamping cards, etc. My sister and I used to make and sell cards and we thought these watercolor pencils were the bomb-diggity. After seeing so many fun watercolor projects around the web, I was inspired to put my watercolor pencils to good use and make some Watercolor Gift Tags.
These make great gift embellishments or wrap a few up and gift to a friend! Let’s grab a few supplies and get started.
Supplies:
White Gift Tags (I used 1.62 x 3.25)
Watercolor Pencils
Paint Brushes
Water
Pictured below are the watercolor pencils I own and used, although there are plenty of other options out there.
I love all the vibrant colors in this set. Aaaaand, yes, as you can see, they haven’t had a lot of use {giggle}.
In as few as three steps, these watercolor gift tags will be ready for use!
Step One:
Select your tag(s), colored watercolor pencil(s) of choice, water and paint brush.
Step Two:
Using the side of your pencil, create your scribble marks on the gift tag.
Step Three:
Lightly wet your paint brush and lightly wipe over your marking to create the watercolor appearance.
And we’re done! I just love them and hope you’ll agree… feel free to personalize them too!
Happy creating, sweet friends!
Care to stay in the loop? I’d love to have you!

Luv simplicity and easiness of this project. Altho have wanted to try water coloring was too chicken to attempt. When I saw title of your post I thought I don’t have any watercolors, but was glad to see you used pencils, awesome Kelly.
Due to your wonderful and wise inspiration I will actually do this. Will cut out some tags and get busy. Might just have to hand write any words on tags but guess that would be ok for a gift? Have been on bit of hiatus from crafting. I get that way sometimes, need some time to refresh the old brain. I was going on adrenoline for few weeks fixing up our living room, ran out of steam.
Hope you’re having wonderful time at Haven. Enjoy, learn then pass it on to rest of us.

Thanks JaneEllen! You will love making these tags…and it’s such a personal touch to add to a gift. π We all go through times where just run out of steam from crafting and such. We just rejuvenate and get back into the groove. Have has been wonderful…so blessed to be here. Enjoy your weekend. HUGS!
