Hey friends! Here you’ll find a few answers to some of my frequently asked questions! I hope you find this page to be a resource for you (and your friends).
Happy browsing and let me know if you should have any questions! p.s. I’ve included affiliate links for your convenience.
BLOG HOSTING.
If you’re just getting started with your blog, Bluehost is a great place to start! I was with them my first year or two of blogging. Affordable and a great starting block.
BACK DROPS.
Many times we make our own backdrops, but I love lightweight too! These awesome Vinyl Backdrops from Swanky Prints fit the bill. They’re super easy to clean and store too! I currently own: Dark Grungy Wood, Barn Wood and Colorful Scuffed Wood.
CAMERA EQUIPMENT.
I am in love this my new Canon 6D. (purchased with Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 24-105mm). I had the Canon Rebel XSi for years and it served me well, but upgrading was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Other Lenses/Accessories: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4. (nifty fifty, my go-to lens). A less expensive 50mm that I used for years with my rebel is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 and I purchased this exact lens from Amazon. It was very good to me.
I’m recently obsessed with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens. I love-love-love how close-up you can get for photographing. It doesn’t work for everything, but it allows for a tight crop.
External Flash: Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash
SD memory cards. I have several in all different sizes (8GB, 16 BG, etc), but this one allows me to keep to do several projects. The storage is much bigger and a lifesaver. Let’s be honest, we all sigh when we see the word “card full.”
My go-to batteries for my flash are the AA Energizer Lithium. They last so much longer than any other battery I’ve used in my flash! A little more expensive, but worth it!
An awesome way to add to your natural light photography is the use of a reflector! And it does just that, reflect light. I have this 24″ Reflector on hand and the Reflector Holder can be a huge help when you need more than two hands {wink}.
PHOTO EDITING.
I use Adobe Photoshop CS6 (for Mac). I am self taught on CS6 and use it for everything — editing, graphic design, printables, etc. I bought my copy of the software, being that I’m not a fan of the monthly payment plan; however, you have options and there is a free trial {wink}.
BOOKS/E-BOOKS.
Tasty Food Photography by Pinch of Yum. This e-book is a wealth of information that will really help you understand your camera and lighting!
Below you can see how resources such as these will truly transform your photography. Amazing, right? Still not sure if it’s for you? They do offer a 30 day money back guarantee (however, I’m 99.9% sure that you’ll be thrilled with this book).
