Technology. What did we do without it? Remember the days where we didn’t even have cell phones? I remember calling home from the schools payphone. Sometimes it’s hard to comprehend! Thankfully we have technology now and so many options to choose from! Are you familiar with the Google Nexus 7? Staples recently offered to send me one to review, along with a couple Moleskine products.
My husband is the electronic guru around here and I knew he would be delighted to see what the Google based Nexus 7 was all about — so he helped me with this post a bit. The first thing he fell in love with was the screen resolution. With a 323 pixels per inch resolution, reading documents on the 7 inch screen was not an issue at all. That is pretty awesome, friends!
Anywho, with the holidays just around the corner, there’s still time to add the Nexus 7 to your Christmas list {wink wink}. Why not set some new year’s resolutions to get a little more organized?
Let’s see how you can get organized with the Google Nexus 7.
Get Organized with The Google Nexus 7
While there are many applications that can help with staying organized, the more applications you use, it seems the more complex organizing can become. The Google Nexus 7 comes complete with the applications to help you stay organized.
Use the Google Calendar application to add events, appointments, and reminder notifications. In addition, go to the Widgets screen then drag and drop the calendar onto your home screen to see upcoming events at a glace without actually having to open the calendar application.
Calendar and E-mail Widget
Google Mail. I’m sure most of us have a gmail account with Google, where you can send and receive e-mails. The Nexus 7 also has a widget to enhance the use of mail. Place the mail widget on your home screen, and with a couple of simple configuration steps you can scroll the sender and subject line of your inbox. Just tap on the email message to read its entire contents. And keep your gmail contacts handy using the People app.
Google Now is an app that displays information on the screen in windows called cards. Add cards to receive weather, sports scores, stock quotes, and flight information to name just a few. You can even view commute to work times!
Being organized is being in control!
With the Google Drive application your Nexus 7 becomes a portable office workspace. Create documents and spreadsheets directly from your device, or access your Google Drive account from a PC and create presentations or drawings that you can view on your Nexus 7. The Google Drive app also allows you to scan documents by taking a photograph with the built-in camera which is then converted to PDF format. And if you need to send a document to a colleague, forget about having to open your e-mail, select compose mail, and attaching the document. Just hold your finger down on the document and send using one of the options from the menu that appears.
Keep is a note taking application: Along with the standard note format, it also offers the ability to record voice, checklists, and snap a picture. Need a item on the list done by a certain date? Keep has a due date reminder option you can set.
Trust me on this one, I am the queen of lists! So having an app that simplifies that process is a blessing in and of itself!
Google Play is the app store for android. If the applications above do not fully meet your organizational needs then head on over to Google Play and browse the store.
With organization comes empowerment.

There you have it! I love that the Nexus comes completely equipped for getting organized. You can’t beat that. On days when I need the paper and pen option — I am huge on having notebooks around, like the Moleskine line. My husband introduced me to these when we were dating and I fell in {love} with them. They come in all shapes and sizes and are durable for the wear and tear of everyday use (including being carried in my purse).

I use my Moleskin notebook every single day. I have one for work related needs and one for planning my blogging adventures.
