Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Today (March 2) marks the 110th birthday of Theodor Geisel, the immensely popular children’s author better known as Dr. Seuss. I love creating printables and thought I would join the celebration and share a free Dr. Seuss printable with all of you.
I have so many fond memories of Dr. Seuss books and Seuss-isms, from childhood to adulthood. I remember reading Green Eggs and Ham when little and getting “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” as one of the many high school graduation gifts. Today, I keep a smaller dose of Dr. Seuss in my desk. It’s called, “Seuss-isms: Wise and Witty Prescriptions for Living from the Good Doctor” It’s packed full of reminders that to this day make me smile. When I was the Director of Admissions at Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, I had many days where stress would attempt to steal my joy. I remembered the Seuss-ism “On Facing Up To Adversity”, it goes like this:
I learned there are troubles
Of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead
And some come from behind.
But I’ve bought a bit bat.
I’m all ready, you see.
Now my troubles are going
To have troubles with me!
-I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew
Doesn’t that seriously just make you smile! It seemed to lighten the load of stress back then and still does today. I imagined carrying around a plastic bat that kids play with and conquering the world {giggle}. Friends, humor is good for the soul!
To share birthday wishes and my love for the Good Doctor, I thought I would share this fun seuss-ism printable with all of you — a great addition to a kids room, play room, or you might even keep a copy in your cubicle. It’s sized at an 8×10. Enjoy!
