Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of life, we forget to take some time to DATE our spouse. Wouldn’t you agree? Life often gets so busy and we tend to get a little too comfortable with our day to day routines. Soooo, I decided to do a little outside the box thinking what about a themed date night?
I {love} World Market. I could buy one of everything in that store. Seriously! Upon a recent visit to the store, I saw their new Kingdom Animalia Collection. My wheels started turning as I looked through all of these fun and vivacious pieces from this collection. I could plan an out of the ordinary, a little on the wilder side themed date night.
I enjoy entertaining, although I don’t seem to do it as often as I’d like to, so when I get to set the table a little more purposefully, I get super excited!! Here are a few of the pieces that caught my eye. I fell in {love} with the orange glazed dinner plates and the orange baker was to die for! The bamboo spoon slid through the lid for easy storage and serving. Brilliant! Anywho, I thought pairing these orange pieces with a couple of what I would call Moroccan inspired candle holders — I could pull in some extra color with the napkins. That would cover dinner — and then there were these serengeti dot mugs that would I thought would pull everything together. These mugs would complete the night with a cup of coffee and some mouthwatering dessert. I think these pieces are gorgeous. Don’t you?
Okay, so the plan is that I’ll set the table for two and follow my rule of simplicity. I don’t like a lot of clutter around us when we’re eating. I {love} adding an eclectic touch, a bit of color, and having clean lines. A table for two can say so much — intimate, romantic, time alone, reconnecting, etc.
And as suggested earlier, we’ll end the night with these fabulously designed mugs filled with coffee that will accompany a yummy dessert! Oooo, I’m getting super excited! I’m thinking a soufflé of some sort…chocolate maybe?
So, what do you think? Are your feeling inspired to plan a themed date night with your significant other? If you’re thinking outside the box, keep World Market in mind. If you’ve never been, boy are you missing out! Seriously, like, go right now {giggle}.

Kelly,
Love the table settings! And I completely agree–date night is important and often forgotten. My husband and I have a 4-month-old son, and since his birth I can count on one hand the number of dates we’ve been on. As a matter of fact, I can count on one finger the number of dates we’ve been on since then.
Honestly, how are you supposed to date with such a tiny breastfeeding baby as an over-protective mom? Problem solved: drive-in-theater! That one date we had was last weekend–I brought a home-made dinner and dessert. He brought the couch cushions to lay out in the back of our SUV. And we FINALLY saw a movie together. And the baby slept through nearly the whole thing!
So in a nutshell, don’t take date night for granted. Some of us long for an easy date night to reconnect with one another on a level other than being equally sleep deprived. Thanks for this post. It’s a nice reminder of how fun dating your spouse can be. 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by, Janae. I LOVED what you did for your date night at the drive-in theater — and I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I certainly don’t take date nights for granted; however, I would give anything to be a mommy too. Wishing you and your family the very best and may you find that time to reconnect when possible. HUGS!
