It’s gardening season! Today I thought I’d share a fun and easy indoor garden project, my DIY Dish Garden.  I’m so super excited how it turned out too.

Easy DIY Dish GardenWhether we’re planting our herbs, fruits and vegetables or flowers, we’re ready to head to the local nursery and get planting. So, what garden projects have you been working on? I’ve seen all kinds of them around the web lately.  Miracle-Gro recently challenged some bloggers to participate in the The Gro Project and share a super easy and inexpensive garden project. Why? Well, because garden projects don’t have to be hard or complicated. Some can be easy and fun. Here’s the proof. I’m officially in {love} with this little guy and I think it took me approximately 10-15 minutes! Yay!

So, let’s grab a few supplies. You’ll need potting soil, succulents and a dish. Yes, it’s that easy {wink}.  A recommended indoor/container potting mix is Miracle-Gro Shake’n Feed All Purpose Plant Food and Moisture Control Potting Mix.  If you’re planting in-ground, try the LiquaFeed All Purpose Plant Food Advance Starter Kit.  Alrighty, let’s do this! Ready?

Supplies for DIY Dish GardenInexpensive Dish GardenWhen I decided to put together my little dish garden, my first stop was Goodwill in hopes of finding the perfect dish. This little crock (which came with a lid too) only costed me $1.00.  I picked up my other supplies at Lowe’s.  I placed a small bit of potting soil in the bottom, added my succulents (Elephant Bush and Golden Sedum) and packed in additional potting soil around each of the plants.  To finish up, I gave them a bit of watering. In a matter of minutes, this beauty came into fruition.

When I was growing up my mother owned a florist shop. I used to make dish gardens all the time for her but I haven’t even thought about one in years! Thanks so much for reminding me how easy they are to make and keep growing. I’m going to have one in my house as soon as I can get to Lowe’s.

I LOVE this! Not only is it pretty, but you make it so easy to put together for a non-gardener like myself. How often do you have to water the succulents? I’m totally going on a hunt for a cheap planter at Goodwill! Thanks for sharing! Kristin

I’m loving this! I can’t garden at all, but you make this look so easy and it definitely looks like something I can handle! I’m totally going on the hunt for a flower pot at Goodwill. Thanks for sharing! Do you know how often you have to water succulents? Kristin
