Lightly grease the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate with shortening. In a bowl, mix the Bisquick and butter until combined. Pour in the boiling water and stir briskly until a soft dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the pie plate, shaping an edge along the rim.
Layer the spinach, bacon, and cheese in the bottom of the pie crust.
Combine eggs, cream, salt, and pepper in a blender or food processor. Beating with a whisk will work too. Pour the egg mixture on top.
Bake for 35-45 minutes or until the egg mixture is set.
