Ham and Bean Soup

Dried Great Northern Beans

Ham, cubed

Chicken Broth

Yellow Onion, chopped

Instructions
Sort through the beans and soak them in water for about 8 hours or overnight. Drain well.
Add all ingredients to the crockpot. Cook on
high for 4 hours
, or until the beans are tender.
Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Serve warm and enjoy!

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to
6 days
, or freeze for up to
3 months

Garlic is optional in this recipe. You can substitute
½ teaspoon minced garlic
for garlic powder, if desired.
Other bean varieties work well, though
white beans
are the traditional choice.
No broth on hand? Water works just fine—just add a little extra salt to make up for the flavor difference.
