					<description><![CDATA[I learned how to make &quot;poor man soup&quot; many years ago from my late husband.  His father used to make this soup but instead of using beef he made it with spam cut into small chunks.  Back in the 50&#039;s and 60&#039;s spam was about the cheapest &quot;meat&quot; you could buy especially when you had to feed a family of 9.  I did add some onions and garlic for flavor.  I added enough water to cover all of the ingredients and instead of tomato soup I added a large can of diced tomatoes.   Needless to say this soup became a staple in my household and a pot full of soup only lasted a couple of days.]]></description>
